Description :
The primary function of the Research & Development Chef is to manage the day to day operation of research & development for our Retail business unit. He/she will work under the direction of the Corporate Executive Chef to turn out food that is efficient, creative, profitable, high in quality and which can be successfully introduced and produced for the market place. The R&D Chef will coordinate development projects while serving as a liaison with the implementation team.
Responsibilities would include, but not limited to:
- Development work (bench work) under direction of Corporate Executive Chef. Continuously develop new and innovative applications for Phillip’s food products.
- Recipe finalization for accurate costing of new/redeveloped products
- Assist production implementation team by providing detailed product specifications
- Cleanliness of culinary center
- Develop and foster relationships through associations and involvement with the “culinary community".
- Consistently support all marketing and public relation efforts for Phillips, as required.
- Varied travel: initially very limited, may increase with time.
- R&D Chef will periodically be called upon to assist in other areas including but not limited to meals, catering functions, training and special events.
Requirements/
Experience :
- ***MUST HAVE Product Development Experience with a Food Manufacturer ***
- Formal Culinary Training
- Food Science Degree - preferred
- 5+ years in the Culinary field
- 2+ years of Retail Food Product development
- Well rounded with regard to cuisine, both regional & category
